There has been a lot of things that happened that made me somehow "abandon" this blog. But I now have all the time in the world since I am now enjoying my maternity leave three weeks earlier than the actual delivery. Yup, you heard it right. This girl will now be a mother in 3 weeks! This pregnancy was really unexpected since I just lost my father last November 2015. But God moves in mysterious ways. He never let me be sad for a long time and gave me an unexpected gift...my daughter. You can check on my pregnancy stories on my other blog A Nanay Journey.

Anyways, after I have resigned from my call center job, I have worked in an IT company as an IT Analyst. They pay was way lower than my previous call center salary but I still took it since the office is closer to where I currently reside and second, it's a "no call" type of job. I stayed there for almost two years and I has been promoted as a second level of support before I left. It's just so happen that another opportunity presented itself to me to work as an Account Manager in a software company where most of my friends from the call center industry currently works. The pay was twice of what I was earning as an IT Analyst and of course, the job description is very different now. The only downside is that the office is very far from my place. Good thing, I already have a car service and going to and fro the office will not be that hard anymore.

Even though I am not working in a call center anymore, I will still continue to be support the call center industry. It has been my bread and butter for seven years and I have learned a lot from it. I've experienced the best and the worst...and have gained wisdom and understanding and a lot of friends. So expect that I will still continue to post call center industry related blog posts. Hope you continue to support me and my blog. Till next blog post. Aja!
This is the second time we didn't have to go to work because of a Philippine Holiday. Woohoo! This is what I've been dreaming of for the longest time - to have a normal life. Normal meaning, a usual Saturday/Sunday restdays ; usual 8am to 5pm work and no work during holidays. I love it!
Never thougth I would experience this in my professional career ever. As you all know, I've been stuck in a call center for seven years and call centers don't usually have holidays off. If you're lucky, you can get a weekend off and a morning schedule but the probability of you being included in the "lucky circle" is very rare. Remember when I told you that I'll post about how I came to a decision of leaving my Call Center Career? Well here it is.

To be honest, I don't have any plans of leaving my current call center job at that time - I have a good relationship with my team and with my superior, however, there has been an opportunity that came knocking that is very hard to resist. I thought I would stay for another three years in my current company and I have already informed my TL about my plans of pursuing a TL role in the future. He is already honing me to become like him and I've learned a lot. I believe that if given a chance to get a TL role, I would be able to pass the interview in a snap - that is how I'm confident on how I can manage that role. Everything is in it's proper place...all plans are in tact, until my friend Ice - who's been my friend for almost seven years informed me that she would try to apply in HP - a company where our friend GK is currently working.
She encouraged me to apply...she made me realize that there is still an opportunity for us to be able to get out of the call center profession we are in. I don't regret being in this industry but the stress, the work location and the shift time is almost unbearable for me. I do love the people but the circumstances I dread. So I've decided to try it out, with no high hopes and just so blessed to be able to make it...and until now, no regrets. I am happy I took the risk and got this chance to see what other things I can do.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-87124748834142290782013-10-19T03:13:00.005-07:002016-06-22T06:00:49.642-07:00Not A Call Center Girl Anymore...Yes that's right...but still, I will maintain this blog. It's been ages since the last time I posted something in here. But since I promised myself I would go back to my money making scheme.. you will see a lot of stuff here again. Just an update on what happened to my Call Center Career , I have been promoted as an RST (Resolution Support Team) last February and our main task were to help a TL of a certain team in managing the team's stats, taking Supcalls, Escalated Calls and answer technical/process questions of agents. I decided to apply because one, the TL who handles the RST team is my former TL KC and two, I believe it's high time to go up the ladder and see what else is in store for me.
I was endorsed to one team. Good thing about it is that I already knew some of the agents in there as they used to be my teammates so the adjustment period is not that long. Since I've been an agent for the longest time, I long to be needed and to feel important...and that's what this position gave me. My team gave me importance and I know that I have earned their trust and respect as time goes by. Though at first, it's really tough. The TL who handles my team took a two week vacation which means, I need to adapt his position and take care of the team. Though it's really hard, as far as managing my time is concerned, I have learned a lot. I've even dreamt of being a TL one day because I want the challenge and I feel I would have lots of opportunity to share what I know about the process and such if I am a TL. Having that in mind, I told TL KC about my intention to be promoted as TL soon and he supported me by giving me coaching sessions and giving me his best practices. He is really the best TL for me because he knows how to motivate his employees. Those were my plans before...until one opportunity knocked on my door one day…

I will share with you how I ended my Call Center Career on my next post. :)

Yesterday we had our annual salary appraisal. It's a monumental event for all of us because we will be appraised and will be judged according to our performance. The higher the rating, the higher your salary increase will become. When my supervisor coached me about my performance, I am really anticipating a high rating. I only failed two scorecards so I feel I would get at least a ten percent appraisal. To my dismay, I only got 5%. Well, he said it's because somehow, we are having issues with the budget and that the highest rating anyone could get in our cluster would be 6%. To be honest with you, though I'm really grateful, I feel I deserve more. Maybe I feel the pressure of getting a higher salary because I now would be paying the amortization of my new house. Oh well, 5% of my current salary is not low at all. Maybe I just expected too much. At least my salary is still a thousand less of the ceiling salary of a senior specialist so I guess I can live with it.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-63918872470868859732012-01-24T18:45:00.000-08:002012-12-11T15:08:48.485-08:00Obama on Call Center Industry Offshore

"it's time to stop rewarding businesses that ship jobs overseas..." - OBAMA

Just watching Obama's presscon in Capitol Hill and to be honest with you...it scares me. Thousands of call center professionals would lose their jobs if this would happen. Foreign companies who put up call centers here in the Philippines would definitely be affected by this. If they move their companies back to the US and hire locals, what would happen to Filipino call center professionals. I can't and don't want to imagine. Call center industry has been my bread and butter for more than five years and I don't know if I would like to go a different way other than this. It pays well and it's the industry that provides food on our table. If this thing will happen and call center professionals would be out of their jobs, I doubt if the government could provide same amount of jobs to people as what the call center industry provides. I understand his dilemma but I also believe that those companies who invested here in the offshore are really helping not just millions of people worldwide but are also helping themselves survive. They are saving millions if not billions of dollars by getting cheap labor. Outsourcing jobs to cheaper providers abroad allowed American companies to stay globally cost competitive. I hope Obama can see not just the negative aspect of getting offshore jobs. My heart is heavy as I listen to his speech. God your will be done.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-22556855371819318992012-01-06T21:47:00.000-08:002012-12-11T15:22:16.600-08:00Best Religion EssayAre you a student who finds it hard to complete an assignment especially when it comes to essay writing? If you'll gonna compare India vs. Philippines when it comes to call center skills, I would go for the Philippines. We have been under US Colony for nearly 50 years and almost everyone here speaks English. I really don't have anything against Indian agents but since I've been with the call center industry for more than five years now, I can say that I myself rarely understands their accent. Maybe because they weren't born having English as their second language unlike in the Philippines wherein English was being taught to children as young as 3 years old. Check this video to see why Call Center in the Philippines are better than Indian Call Centers.
First, because I feel bad for the caller and secondly, I know this is not a usual scenario in a call center. We do value our customers and we don't usually make a practical joke with them because we try to be as professional as possible. It breaks my heart to see anybody degrading our profession by making prank jokes with their caller. I do value my job, I find dignity on it. It's the sole source of my income. It gives me a comfortable life and I was able to help my family because of it. I really feel bad knowing one person can change the perception of so many people about how call center operates.

I admit, at first I thought it was funny. Imagine a Filipino call center agent asking five bogus security questions to an American client such as "how many bones do you have?", "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?" and "what is the biggest bird?" Good thing about the call is that the caller is not irate at all. He just laughed about it and didn't paid much attention to the questions. But then again, it's a NO-NO for call center agents to make such jokes even if the caller didn't mind. Some call centers also doesn't allow any electronic devices on the floor. I bet this agent would be given a disciplinary action if not terminated. I hope our US clients won't take this instance against us - call center professionals.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-8764337400755276772011-10-09T20:01:00.000-07:002012-12-11T15:22:27.222-08:00Online Cash AdvanceYehey! Today I'll be celebrating my 5th year anniversary! I've been working for the same company for five years now and I can now get my early retirement fund anytime! Woohoo! I can't describe how happy I am. I plan to celebrate this day with hubby and I'll gonna buy myself a beautiful bag. I also promised my mom that I'll gonna treat her for lunch the day after tomorrow...however, my budget isn't enough until next payday after paying my housing mortgage. Good thing, I know an online payday loan site that provides quick cash to employed individuals who needs emergency funds. What's good about this loan is that you can just fill out an online form, take note, all of these transactions are done online! You can fill it out in the comfort of your own home! Mostly their only main requirements is that you should be a US Citizen, at least eighteen years old and is currently employed. They might also require you for proof of identification and a proof that you are a working professional. You can expect approval in seconds, no credit check and no faxing of documents! Unbelievable! Those online payday loan sites normally do have high approval rate so you can get your cash at no time! I’ll try to apply for one tonight as I really need to have a date with my mother. I’ll just gonna pay it this coming payday. I wonder where well go. Hmmm. It’s been years since I’ve dated my mom and I really want to make this date the best one. She’s the one who took care for me and made sure that I would finish my college education by hook or by crook. She worked hard even up to the age of 60 just to provide for my studies. This would be my simple way to say thank you for all she’ve done for me and helping me get into the place where I am right now. If it wasn’t for my mom, I would be nothing. Nothing at all. So I really need to make sure I’ll get the money for our date and hopefully I can get approved for my loan.
Yey! I won two free movie tickets! We had a celebration in the office that time and our managers put in some stickers under some of the stations and I was the lucky one who got one of those stickers! Me and hubby used this tickets supposedly to watch Johnny English 2 in Trinoma but it's already fully booked. The next screening would be at 8 pm and it's only 4 in the afternoon that time. So we ended up watching "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark" which is a horror film starring Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison, and Katie Holmes. It's not that scary for me, it's more of a children type horror story but some scenes are indeed creepy. Though were not able to really watch the film we wanted, just being with my hubby and bonding the whole day definitely makes it worthwhile. I'm a one happy call center girl!myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-21224667140436909452011-09-22T16:55:00.000-07:002012-12-11T15:22:39.304-08:00Attention Sports LoverIf you are a sports fanatic, you might be interested in this post. I know a number of bloggers who recommends using Wordpress blog engine because of its simplicity in usage and set up and flexibility. There are also a great number of plug ins available plus there are a lot of websites that also offers a number of wonderful Free Wordpress Templates! I would definitely consider getting one soon I just hope I can find time for it.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-74916638714485612842011-07-09T10:27:00.000-07:002012-12-11T15:12:33.032-08:00Upselling...There has been a scheme in our company where we do upsell for higher technical support for any issues our callers have for their computers, third party routers and any other products the company doesn't support for a fee. At first, I was quite hesitant to do that. We are not trained for sales talk and our job contract clearly says that we are to provide technical support to our callers, not offer any additional products other than what they have subscribed to. I really can't see myself offering a support to my callers for a fee, but just recently, after closing my first sale...it's not that bad at all. What's good about this upselling thing is that as of this time, we are not required to do that. If there is a chance to offer, then we have the option to upsell. We also get commissions from every successful "recommendation" we provide. And since my first sale, I started researching about the service we are offering to make sure that I could get proper recommendation to the customer. In that way, I would have the knowledge about the service which we are recommending...like what they say, "you can't sell something that you don't know". Currently, I'm one of top sellers of the site and I'm happy with it. Not only did I provide better solutions for our members but I also have earned extra because of those successful referrals. Actually, because of this sales experience, I have realized something about myself. I guess, my passion is to sell. I'm happy whenever I sell something, even when I was young. Maybe the reason why I put up my store is because I love making money out of selling. I believe that everything happens for a reason, maybe the reason why this selling scheme in the company started is to unleash my potential in selling. Oh well, I will park that thought for now... I'll first try to get as many referrals as I can so I could save for my future business...who knows, I'll also be into a selling business someday too.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-30087892535988994032011-06-26T19:42:00.000-07:002012-12-11T15:22:55.496-08:00My Sister's VacationMy sister Ems just recently buzzed me through chat saying she and her family will be coming home next week. I got really excited because its been a year now since the last time they visited our place. She is a nurse working abroad. We chatted for almost an hour as she is instructing me on what to do and what to buy for their entire stay. Groceries, linens and DVDs are some of the things I need to prepare before they come. Of course I also need to buy her a gift since I wasn't able to send her one one on her birthday last week. Since my sister is a very dedicated nurse, I've decided to giver her one of those colorful nursing uniform I've seen online. There are a lot of options to choose from but I prefer those colorful ones as it would definitely match her personality. I can now imagine how happy she would be once she receive this gift of mine. To just share with you, I've found those nice nursing scrubs here at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ - the maker of the most fashionable medical srubs. Their love story began when my friend Melai had signed up to an online dating site. Well, she really don't intend to have a serious relationship through the net. She also thought there is no such things as cyber love. She had so many guy chatmates, almost with all the nationalities in the world. All are just flings until she met Josef, a Slovak guy living in Ireland. She knew when she speaks with Josef, she never have to pretend. She can always be herself and Josef will still like her. He is the type of guy who accepts Melai for who she are. And guess what, just two months ago...Josef have found a way to visit her here. It was so unexpected and Melai didn't know that the Josef will stay true to his words. He proposed to her on his two week visit here in Manila and promised to marry her come next year. A call center is a company who hires people to receive or do outbound calls to provide excellent service to their clients. Generally, call centers are large offices that could have a hundreds of telephone staff depending on the needs of the company.

Some call centers are just answering inbound calls, such as an Internet service that provides assistance over the phone when their customer needs help with their connection right away. In this example, call center agents can give step-by-step instructions to resolve the customer's internet problem. Other call centers, agents are the one who do outbound calls, one of the example is a survey company.

Call centers are very in demand now a days because it provides good compensation package and benefits to their employees. Even if you just finished two years in college or you are a handicap as long as you have excellent interpersonal communication skills, then you are accepted in this industry. And the good thing about call center is that there is no age limit for their employees unlike other companies who preferred to accept young and fresh graduates.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-42946443974992986582011-05-15T16:16:00.000-07:002011-05-15T16:16:57.308-07:00One Happy Call Center GalI'm just so happy with the recent updates in the office. I've learned that the management made some changes regarding our Quality Productivity Bonus. I would not dig deep into this as this might violate the company policy but they have increased the rates of our bonuses. I know I had plans of resigning next year but because of these sudden changes in our pay, I am having second thoughts. Having that kind of increase in our QPB means like having 14th and 15th month pay! I love it! Well, I would most likely just ask to be transferred to our site in UP Science or in Commonwealth, closer to where I plan to get a house which is in Montalban Rizal. So much of future plans but as of this time, I'm a one happy gal. Sharing the good vibes with everyone - Myles.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-45764106506027688952011-04-03T17:37:00.000-07:002011-05-14T10:37:46.407-07:00Blogging and ProcrastinationI wasn't able to post anything personal on this blog for the longest time and I know it's time to change it's format. I don't know if having a lot of blogs is an advantage on my part as I wasn't able to concentrate on them all. The tendency is, I don't have a pattern. My beauty portal, advice portal and health site even my food blog has been forgotten for almost three months now. I hope I could have enough time and resources to update all of these blogs on time because the more updated your blog is...the more chances of it getting a task. I do hope I can be organized this time. I'm so tired of being lazy and not being able to do what I need to do as intended.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-71964687760319159632011-03-16T15:45:00.001-07:002012-12-11T15:23:24.649-08:00How It All BeganJust last month, my bestfriend Melai's fiance finally made it in Manila. I was so happy to be able to witness this wonderful love story. I can still remember how Melai once shared to me her eagerness to find his prince charming by signing up to the best dating sites available on the internet, until she was able to mee Josef, a Slovak gentleman currently residing in Ireland. This is how it all began, the dating site Melai used have several dating site features browsing singles, seeing who's viewed your profile, ending "winks" and sending and receiving emails. She saw this cute guy and she checked his profile. Josef then saw that Melai looked into his profile and seems interested in him. He then began sending her emails. They chat as often as they can. Melai would normally sleep only for like two to three hours just to chat with Josef as they are living in different timezones. Josef would sometimes need to be absent for work just to talk to Melai during her rest day. They seem not to get enough of each other. That's how in love they were...and the rest is history. Through time, they've developed a plan to meet each other and that meeting finally happened last February.

They started chatting and in just about a year, Josef decided to visit Melai here in Manila. It was indeed a love story made in heaven. He is a chef in a restaurant and she is a call center agent. Who would have thought that two creatures who came from different parts of the world would meet and fell in love very quickly. They are planning to tie the knot next year. I can't be happier for Melai. They really deserve each other as both are warm hearted and very giving people. And it all started because of the wonders of modern technology.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-2216097796326788532011-01-23T23:21:00.000-08:002011-05-14T14:21:15.383-07:00Pizza Day!Just want to share with you a picture of what happened last night. After our names were blasted for VGH, our TL told us that a Yellow Cab pizza is waiting for us at the pantry. Yey! What a blessed day it is. Just some of the call center events I'm looking forward to. Working for almost three hours only with a free snack? What more can you ask for! Here's a glimpse of that happy shift!
It's been months since I last updated this blog. It's just so happen I don't have enough ideas on what to write in here to be honest with you. Originally, the theme was to put in any information regarding call center life. How we live..what we like to do...who we really are. I don't know how to start because I seldom go out. My college friends are urging me to explore the world...make things happen...visit places...don't be afraid to take risks...I guees they're right. I need to get out of my comfort zone. I need to try new things...in that way, I'll be able to say that I was able to live my life to the fullest. In that way, I can say that I didn't waste my life thinking of what could have been...but it's easier said than done you know...but ill try...myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-53100108207228349462010-10-05T21:51:00.000-07:002013-10-17T17:39:06.485-07:00Family Day!

Last week, our company celebrated what we call Family Day. All it's employees together with their two family members are invited to see RiverMaya and Bamboo's concert at the Araneta Colliseum. I'm really looking forward for free call center perks that our company gives us once in a while to reward us of our hard work.Though I had a shift the day before the event, I still went to the said concert and gave one of my
tickets to my dear friend Jonjon, my bestfriend Mamu's partner. I won;t miss this kind of call center even for anything else. This would be the first time I’ll gonna attend such occasion so I’m kind’a excited.

We arrived at Araneta around 5 pm, I met my friend Melai at the entrance hall and she brought her mom and her cousin. We came in at around 5:15 pm and the concert hall was not even half filled. The concert started at around 6pm just in time for Jonjon's arrival. This is the first time I've seen the new vocalist of Rivermaya named Jason, they sang their hit songs from the past such as "You'll Be Safe Here" and "214". Bamboo is also great and sang his hit song "Hallelujah" and "Pinoy Ako". Though I am really not familiar with most of his songs, I really had a nice time as we joke around most of the time. The concert ended at around 7:30 just in time for our next shift at 9 PM. I really enjoyed this day and is looking forward for more call center events such as this one.myleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06988670887033199136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523652728460880564.post-19736725012661670202010-09-25T14:21:00.000-07:002013-10-17T17:40:43.839-07:00First Ever Team KamiKC Team BuildingYes! We had our first ever team building at Hacienda Darasa in Tanauan City, Batangas. We really enjoyed our stay and I never thought it would be this fun! We didn't know that today is the official town fiesta of Tanauan so it took us about two tiring hours to get to the destination. It's not very far from Manila but the traffic is terrible. We saw how the typical town like Tanauan Batangas celebrates their town fiesta. The typical town combo, the numerous vendors selling all kinds of stuff such as colored chicks, iced candy, children's toys, balloons and the like. They also put up a small tiangge and a mini carnival for the tourists. Though it's a very long ride to our destination, I had a good sleep. I was able to prepare myself for a looong day ahead.

We came to our actual destination at around 11 am. The staff already prepared our hot sopas supposedly for our lunch and since it's almost lunch time, they also had prepared our lunch. Since this is the first time our team had hang out together...we can still feel the akwardness in the air. We had no clue that this would just be the beginning of a fun experience.

We had a short siesta and we also had our picture taking in the afternoon. We also swam for about an hour before we had our merienda served at around 4pm. We girls also played Pinay Henya and we really had a blast. Dinner was served at around 6pm and after that...inuman na! Dito na nagsimula ang lahat.

They purchased 5 bottles of the bar and ten pcs of tang strawberry. I was the one in charged of mixing our drinks. At first I admit, there has been a lot of dead air. But because of one question na "what do you think is the one thing that you do which is out of the ordinary" ayun, naglabasan na ang mga tinatago. All of us needs to tell something and whenever one says his piece, sobrang dami nang lait at side comments ang maririnig which makes it more fun. The star of the night is my bestfriend Melai who sang, danced and made faces that almost made all of us teary eyed because of so much laughter. We also drank Jaggermeifer drink which was brought by Chi and sobrang bangenge na kami lahat. We run out of liquor so we all decided to just call it a day...not knowing, susunod pa pala ang mga boys sa room ng mga girls and sobrang laitan at tawanan na naman ang naganap. They even shot so many pictures na sobrang nakakatawa ang kinalabasan.

All in all, this is one of the best team buildings I ever attended. Just like the one we had in Pansol when we had our first ever team building with Team Paul. I know this is just the beginning of a very tight friendship among our teammates. It's nice to know that I am with nice and friendly teammates until the end of my stay with the company next year. Thank You Lord for giving me new friends in Team KamiKC.
At last! But I only got one as I already had a three day off last week. So far so good. Just saw the movie "The Last Exorcism" but I really didn't like it at all. It's so boring and it really is not what I am expecting for a horror movie - especially that it covers a very broad and serious topic of exorcism. If you are planning to watch this movie, I advice you to make sure you did not come from the night shift because you will definitely get sleepy with the story. It's not that interesting at all. Boring and the plot is very confusing.

Anyways, I just slept the whole day. I enjoyed a home cooked adobo and got reunited with my bed and pillows. Got up at around 12:30 PM and started working on my blogs. Finished three tasks today while watching again the "Illuminati" documentary I recenty found in google video. It's a mind blowing documentary regarding the elite society that plans to take over the world. I would strongly recommend each and everyone to watch this vid as this would definitely open our eyes to our current world situation. I pray God would open our hearts and minds and help us fully understand what it is all about and give us convictions on what we need to do to be ready in the upcoming battle. God bless everyone!

here's the illuminati video, disturbing but true:
